My Journey to the Pro Stage: MENTAL OUTLOOK AND STRENGTH

As I begin typing, my words still seem so surreal to me.  I have envisioned competing as an IFBB Pro for years and now that moment will come to fruition on Saturday May 4th.  As I hit this pinnacle in my career as an IFBB PRO, competition team owner (Team Bella Body), trainer, fitness model, wife and mother,  I feel an overwhelming sense of responsibility, joy and gratitude on so many levels.

My thoughts when I step on stage will be  a sense of joy  to know that I have worked SO hard to reach my fitness/diet goals and will be bringing my best package to date:)  I feel incredible gratitude to have my health, good mental outlook and family support in this process.  When I think about these things coming together, I realize this is the key for me in this industry!!!

Surprisingly, recognizing the accomplishment and MENTAL STRENGTH  as much as physical strength.  Realizing this has provided me with an incredible sense of happiness and empowerment.   It has actually allowed me to focus on the important things in life and pay less attention to the things that really DO NOT matter!!  As an example, I remember being much more worrisome about my daughter’s school life, why someone didn’t like me,  the house being in perfect order, etc.  Although I still like having a tidy home, I no longer stress if things aren’t  the way I would ideally want them.  My daughter will find her way in a newer school system.  I can provide her with encouragement and guidance but it will be her own choices and internal motivation that will ultimately guide her.  It is always wonderful to be liked but ultimately we can only be ourselves and stand strong in the presence of our own being.If others don’t like any aspect of what makes us who we are (aka fitness model, girly girl, tomboy), we can’t  change their own perceptions but more importantly not internalize them.

The peace of mind these thoughts have provided me with are so freeing.  I feel a sense of peace in my life as I never have before!!! You are probably thinking all that from the fitness industry?  What I am saying is that it has provided me with a gateway to do what has driven me my entire life!!! Health, sports, fitness, nurturance are attributes that are wholly a part of who I am as a person.  To be able to live out yours dreams in life and work in what you love to do is priceless!! So,  I realize that as I am being given the privilege of stepping on stage amongst the most beautiful ladies in the fitness world I can continue down a path of serving and inspiring others beyond the physical.   We as competitors show empowerment, balance, dedication, strength and motivation on SO MANY different levels to  others.  I strongly encourage anyone to self-actualize their dreams and make it a reality!! You may be surprised at what unexpected inner peace or fulfillment it brings!!!!

A Poolside Parfait, The Healthy Way!

Getting ready to cool off poolside with a quick, simple and healthy parfait!!! Try it!! This is easy and satisfying 🙂

1/3 C wheat free gluten free blueberry waffles (squared into pieces)
1 TSB fat free cool whip & 1/3 cup protein pudding combined
Fresh sliced stawberries and blueberries
Arrange into a parfait and enjoy!!!

Spice Up Your Turkey!

A good way to spice up turkey? Add “meaty” Portobello mushroom to the mix for a delicious way to get your carbs and protein 😉

1 turkey breast burger (seasoned to taste)
1 Portobello mushroom
1 tbsp tamari
1 tbsp ketchup
1/4 c fresh diced basil
1tsp minced garlic
1 tsp dried oregano
2 tbsp minced bell pepper
Black pepper (to taste)
1 tbsp almond meal flour


Other:
Non- stick butter cooking spray
1 cup brown rice


*In skillet, cook turkey burger to preference & set aside. In same skillet spray Portobello mushroom with cooking spray on both sides and cook until tender then remove. Combine all other ingredients in bowl and mix well. Add to skillet until well blended and heated. Place mushroom on plate and spoon sauce mixture on top. Then add turkey burger on top of mushroom. Top with remaining sauce and spoon brown rice around dish to complete.

Drink Smooth!

Try this smoothie. It’s a great way to get your veggies, fruits and protein together in one shake!!

Fresh Spinach
Green Apple
Kale
Pineapple
Liquid egg white

*Blend all ingredients together with crushed ice and serve.

Protein pancake made with:

5 egg whites

1/3 cup oatmeal 

1 scoop About Time Cinnamon Swirl Protein

Top that off with sugar free syrup made with Splenda! Yummy!!!!
